These heat pumps are fueled by natural gas, propane, renewable natural gas, and hydrogen blends.

  Press Releases

  • Founded in 2008 by Michael Garrabrant, SMTI evolved from a vision to revolutionize residential and commercial heating solutions. Garrabrant, who previously held key engineering roles at American Water Heater Company and A.O. Smith Water Products Company, recognized the need for more efficient and environmentally friendly heating technologies that didn’t impact the grid.
Over the years, SMTI has focused on developing its flagship product line, the Anesi® brand of gas-fired absorption heat pumps. These innovative systems utilize patented compressor-less technology and operate without harmful refrigerants, achieving an impressive Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating of 140%. This breakthrough technology significantly reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of heating needs. In 2022, SMTI unveiled its gas absorption heat pump system at the AHR Exposition in Las Vegas. This milestone marked the beginning of SMTI's journey towards commercialization. Anesi products are available in North America through Manufacturing Reps and Distributors.

  • HP80 Gas Absorption Heat Pump (GAHP)
The Anesi® HP80 Gas Absorption Heat Pump by Stone Mountain Technologies is a high-efficiency, thermally driven heating system designed for cold climates. Using natural gas or propane, it employs ammonia-water absorption cycle technology (R717), offering zero GWP, zero ODP, and no PFAS. Key features include a sealed combustion chamber, variable-speed evaporator fan, and a modulating burner with up to 4:1 turndown for precise control. Field data indicate potential gas savings of up to 50% and heating efficiencies near 140% AFUE under favorable conditions. The HP80 operates in ambient temperatures as low as -40°F, connects to standard 120V power, and supports remote diagnostics. ETL listed and ultra-low NOx compliant, it presents a scalable, environmentally responsible alternative to conventional heating systems.
