  • Saniflo Canada introduces Sanicom 2 heavy-duty, duplex drain pump

Designed for demanding commercial applications, the Sanicom 2 comes equipped with two, 2-HP pumps that together will remove water, grease and corrosive chemicals up to 194°F at a maximum rate of 140 gpm, while offering redundancy to keep businesses operational.

CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO (March 1, 2021) — Saniflo® Canada, the world leader in above-the-floor macerating and grinding toilets and drain pumps is offering a more powerful companion to its popular Sanicom simplex drain pump: the Sanicom 2, equipped with two, 2-horsepower, 220-volt motors for handling multiple commercial fixtures that must process large volumes of high-temperature water, grease or chemicals.

The Sanicom 2 duplex drain pump can move up to 140 gallons of fluid per minute, with both pumps automatically activating simultaneously when the incoming flow rate exceeds that of a single pump. Like the Sanicom 1, the new duplex model can handle fluids up to 194°F, making it ideal for industrial-scale dishwashers, commercial washing machines, hydroponic crop growing, as well as any other commercial and industrial applications requiring wastewater evacuation.

With horsepower ratings higher than other Saniflo systems, the Sanicom 2 discharges effluent through a 1.5-inch pipe vertically 32 feet, horizontally 390 feet, or a combination of both. (A vertical run of 3 feet is equal to a horizontal run of 30 feet.) The pump comes equipped with built-in check valves on the discharge of each motor.

Critical, built-in redundancy: The dual-motor technology brings not only more pumping power to high-demand commercial applications, but also invaluable pump redundancy. If one motor requires servicing, the second serves as an essential backup, keeping operations going in the interim.

The new Sanicom 2 has been certified to Canadian (CSA) as well as American standards: CSA B45.9-02 | ASME A112.3.4-2000 | PS 52-2009e1. The Sanicom 2’s duplex technology is an excellent fit for many tyoes of applications across Canada, notes Phil Warren, National Sales Manager for Saniflo Canada. “Many municipalities now require duplex pumping systems for certain commercial applications. That’s because so many commercial entities simply cannot afford any downtime. ‘Always operational’ is a critical need, one that the powerful duplex technology of the Sanicom 2 is fully able to meet.”

    Numerous key features:

Fail-safe activation: A fail-proof sensing mechanism system for detecting the water level inside the Sanicom 2 consists of three pressure switches, each installed in its own internal dip tube. With three different switches, it is nearly impossible for the unit to fail to activate with incoming fluids.
Quiet operation: Even with a pair of 2-HP pump motors, the Sanicom 2 has the same operational noise level as the Sanicom 1: 68 dBA, or approximately equivalent to normal conversation.
Installer-friendly design: The Sanicom 2 enclosure offers a two-inch inlet on either side, in compliance with major plumbing codes in the United States and Canada (CSA). These inlets are positioned closer to the floor than those found on conventional drain pumps, helping to speed installation by reducing the height at which floor-level plumbing fixtures must sit to achieve proper drainage. Note: An external check valve must be installed on drain pipes connected to the pump.
Easy access for servicing: The Sanicom 2 has been designed to keep maintenance to a minimum. If servicing is needed, the two motors, electrical components, pressure-level switches and dip tubes are all readily accessible and easily removed.
Corrosion-resistant case: The Sanicom 2 enclosure is made of rugged, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that is engineered to resist corrosion from hot grease and harsh chemicals likely to be found in heavy-duty commercial applications.
Measuring 19 inches wide x 13-3/4 inches high x 19-1/4 inches deep, the heavy-duty Sanicom 2 is slightly larger and, at 57 pounds, 35 pounds heavier than its predecessor. The unit comes equipped with an external wired control panel with override buttons and LED power and alarm indicators. An external alarm box is optional.

The Sanicom 2 will be available for shipment in late spring of this year and will carry an MSRP of $2689.

“As an ‘above-the-floor’ plumbing solution, capable of quickly handling large quantities of extremely hot wastewater, grease and chemicals, the Sanicom 2 is unlike any other commercial drain pump on today’s market,” says Phil Warren. “Installers, engineers and facility managers will find it a highly reliable product for keeping their systems fully operational.”

  • Saniswift Pro heavy duty drain pump unveiled for more demanding applications

Rugged new pump design offers quick installation in hard-to-reach, below-sink spaces; plus, superior water-detection sensor to reduce system failures. Featuring a stylish, cube-shaped design, the Saniswift Pro’s HDPE encasement will resist corrosion from harsh chemicals, while providing ready access to the pump and electrical components for maintenance.

CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO (FEBRUARY 15, 2021) — Saniflo® Canada, the world leader in above-the-floor macerating and grinding toilets and drain pumps, recently introduced a heavy-duty companion to its popular Saniswift residential drain pump.

Designed to meet larger commercial as well as conventional residential drainage applications, the new Saniswift Pro can handle gray water from up to three fixtures: sink, shower, dishwasher or washing machine (via a laundry sink). The pump is encased in a more robust, yet stylish, cube-shaped exterior can be easily installed in hard-to-reach spaces, such as beneath a bathroom or kitchen sink. Measuring 12-¼ inches wide x 9-¾ inches high x 11-¼ inches deep, the product is slightly larger and three pounds heavier than its predecessor, but still offers a more compact profile than other drain pumps.

Servicing can be done without disconnecting any piping to the unit. Made of rugged, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to resist corrosion from harsh chemicals, the Saniswift Pro encasement has a top cover with two removable screws, providing ready access to all electrical components inside. The pump motor can then be quickly lifted from within to remove any foreign objects in the impeller.

Available throughout North America, the new Saniswift Pro has been certified to Canadian (CSA) as well as American standards: CSA B45.9-02 | ASME A112.3.4-2000 | PS 52-2009e1.

No drainage storage = no odors + longer pump life: Like the Saniswift, the new Saniswift Pro is not simply a sump pump in a bucket. Its superior drain-water detection and removal sequence is engineered to extend the overall lifecycle of the pump, while also eliminating unwanted odors.

Traditional drain pumps store wastewater until a level float inside these units triggers drainage discharge. This waste storage can lead to odors, while the presence of corrosive drainage can cause product deterioration over time.

The Saniswift Pro stores no waste but uses a short-cycle motor to begin drainage immediately, while also keeping the basin empty during operation. Water entering the unit triggers a sensor that immediately activates a pressure switch, causing the motor’s spindle/shaft to turn the pump impeller (at 3,600 RPM) and discharge the waste. The 0.3-horsepower motor is sealed for life in an oil-filled enclosure, while moving parts are kept to a minimum. The results: More efficient and effective drainage with no unpleasant odors and a longer product life.

Once the water is discharged and the water level inside the Saniswift Pro drops, the pressure switch deactivates the unit — until effluent enters the unit again. A normal operating cycle for the Saniswift Pro is between three and five seconds, depending upon the discharge-pipe run configuration. Power consumption is therefore minimal.

“The Saniswift Pro water detection sensor is far superior to float systems for water detection and is designed to minimize opportunities for pump and system failures,” says Phil Warren, National Sales Manager for Saniflo Canada.

Lower inlet positioning = easier installation: The installer-friendly design of the Saniswift Pro also features a pair of two-inch inlets, one on either side of the unit, with diameters that comply with major plumbing codes. These side inlets are positioned lower than those found on conventional drain pumps, further easing installation.

The top of the Saniswift Pro also has two inlets, each measuring 1.5 inches, for connecting the unit to a venting system, as required by local plumbing codes.

Using a discharge line of 1, 1-1/4 or 1-1/2 inches in diameter — to accommodate a variety of retrofit applications — the Saniswift Pro will pump drainage 14 vertical feet and 140 horizontal feet, or a lesser combination of these two distances. (A vertical run of three feet is equal to a horizontal run of 30 feet.) Like the Saniswift, the new pump will discharge 18 gallons per minute (GPM) at a discharge distance of 14 feet; and 24 GPM at three feet.

“With the growing need for above-the-floor plumbing solutions, we felt it was time to introduce a more rugged drain pump that meets the demanding needs of both residential and commercial applications, ,” explains Phil Warren. “The original Saniswift has been a huge success for Saniflo, while this new Pro edition will appeal to those residential and commercial customers who prefer a heavier-duty product with an attractive, more industrial-type look at an equally attractive price point.”

  • The Sanicom 1 drain pump is used to pump gray water away from a variety of fixtures in commercial and residential applications. The system is able to discharge the waste up to 25 feet vertical and/or 250 feet horizontal. This model was designed to sustain the toughest applications from commercial applications where hot water can be an issue as it is capable of handling up to 194°F.

The Sanicom 1 model was designed to sustain the toughest applications meant for gray water pumps.  Its pumping capabilities and unique design are the reason why these range of pumps are preferred for heavy duty applications.

The inside of the Sanicom 1 comprises of a pressure switch and a circuit board assembly, which starts and stops the unit, a powerful 1-HP motor, which in turn starts the motor.

The motor is sealed for life in an oil filled enclosure.  A spindle/shaft drives the impeller and therefore the moving parts are kept to an absolute minimum.  Water enters the chamber and is pumped away into the sanitary sewer.

The unit pumps the effluent upward to 25 feet and/or 250 feet horizontally (with gravity fall).  Once the water is discharged and the water level in the container goes down, the pressure switch deactivates the unit until water enters the unit again.  A normal operating cycle for the Sanicom 1 can be as short as 2 - 10 seconds depending upon the discharge pipe run configuration; power consumption is therefore minimal.

The Sanicom 1 handles up to 194°F water, making it perfect for commercial kitchen applications where dishwashers must operate at exceptionally high temperatures to meet health and sanitation standards. In addition, the unit is specially designed to withstand liquids with highly acidic properties, such as wastewater from processing applications.  Its important to use the proper pipe rated for high temperature on the discharge as well as for the inlets.

The waste water from other sanitary fixtures is discharged into the Sanicom 1 via two 2-inch inlets, on either side of the housing.  The discharge elbow on top of the Sanicom1 can be turned either to the left, to the right, or towards the back, depending on the discharge installation.  A non-return valve, provided with the system, prevents back flow into the unit.

This unit has been designed with a vent connection on top of the enclosure.  All plumbing codes require connection to a vent system.  Please note that the vent system should be a two-way air vent.  The use of mechanical vents, air admittance valves or similar devices are not permitted as these are considered one-way air vent systems.

It is also highly recommended for the gray water pump to be connected to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit.

The Sanicom 1 has been certified to American and Canadian Standards.  US: CSA Certified & IAPMO (UPC) listed - ASME A112.3.4, CA: CSA B45.9 / UL778 6th Ed / PS 52-2009e1
